some relax time tonight

Tonight I finally have been able to sit back and relax a bit.  I figured I’d post an update of my week for everyone that I don’t get to talk to anymore b/c I have no life other than teaching and planning lessons.

Monday sucked.  I spent the day teaching with a headache, left school to go sit in seminar (a class we have to take along w/student teaching).  Some idiot must have thought it’d be great to require student teachers to come sit for 3 hours and listen to boring speakers- as if we don’t have a million other things to do.  After leaving seminar I was driving home and had everything I needed to get done that evening running through my mind.  I got pulled over and got a speeding ticket for going 69 in a 55mph.  Now, this was on a long stretch of the road that was all swamp on both sides- its not like I was driving like that through house-lined roads.  I just blanked on how fast I was going and wasn’t paying attention.  GRR. I had just gotten a huge order from a client last weekend and thought I’d actually have some money to buy the baby’s bedding next month, but looks like the money will have to be spent elsewhere.  Just when I think I can get ahead…  So after I go home Ryan is ticked about my ticket so I told him to write down his complaints and get in line.  I spent the evening in solitude in my office.  Then, I mention to Ryan that another teacher had given me Advil for my headache today and she’d told me it was fine to take during pregnancy.  Well, he said "Noo no ibuprofin!" So I started freaking out and spent an hour online looking up Advil on baby/pregnancy websites. (turns out its isn’t horrible- just not recommended in 1st trimester- can cause miscarriages and in 3rd trimester can cause early labor).  SO that was my Monday.  I was looking forward to starting a new day on Tuesday…

Then I get to school on Tuesday to realize I had left my lunch at home. UGH!   Not horrible, though, I just ran to Subway on lunch and solved that problem.  Irritating, though.

Today was kind of rotten too.  I thought it was supposed to be nice- in the 70’s- and was excited to get a break from the heat in the classroom.  Now, what idiot thinks its a great idea to NOT let teachers have air conditioners in their room?  Well, today wasn’t so nice afterall… it ended up being extremely humid and add 28 sweaty, rambunctious kids after lunch recess to the class and you have an atmosphere somewhat like a jungle.  I kid you not, it had to be at LEAST 85* and super humid in the class.  It was so bad it made me nauseous.  I could barely function, and all day I felt like my clothes were doused in sweat. Oh, but don’t worry- the office, computer lab and the lounge are airconditioned.  Yep, all the people who DON’T work with 28 kids all day.  Where’s the sense in that?  Now, I understand its kind of stupid to have central air in the school when in a month it’ll be cooled down, but oh my word why can the teachers not supply themselves with a window air conditioner if they feel so inclined???  Rediculous.  Pray for the weather to cool down soon or I’m going to lose my mind.

Anyway, I was so glad to come home to my cooled down house.  I normally stay after for awhile to get all my lessons set and read through for the next day, but today there was no way.  I came home to plan tomorrow’s science lesson.  I ordered a pizza for dinner and kind of lounged around.  YAY!

Oh here’s something fun I found on Kristi’s blog: Its a geography map quiz. It took me 206 seconds and I got 96% with 11miles average error.  However, I have played the game before, so don’t go thinking I’m some geography whiz.

Ok well thats it for now.

  1. Poor Nicole! It really does sound like this week has been the pits 😦 My school has no A/C anywhere and it can be very miserable and nauseating! Grrrr to the cop who gave you the ticket…big Jerk! Doesn’t he know the week you’ve had??! j/k.
Glad you had some relaxation time…I need to do that myself. Not to mention some scrapping..its been forever!

  2. Ibuprofen is generally safe for most people, but there is a theoretical risk as you have mentioned and it’s generally preferable to avoid it in pregnancy. Acetaminophen is safe in pregnancy, and often as effective as the anti-inflammatory medications so may be you can try that, if you haven’t already done so.

The pictures of the classroom were cute! You must have a lot of fun teaching. Hope everything goes well for you and your family.
