Enjoying the early morning…

Its about 6:30 am and I’m up and at em.  Yes, amazing huh?  So, during my half hour or so of "free time" I’m just relaxing and updating this poor blog that has been so neglected.

Today is the last day of babysitting.  I am DONE.  Yay!! I decided I can’t do it anymore, both take care of the kids with major attitudes and also be working fulltime 6 days a week, while pregnant and spend my Sunday planning. I need some "Me" time, some time with my husband, some time with friends and family.  So, as of noon today, I’m released from this job.  I have a bridal shower to go to this afternoon and then after that who knows what!  I really need to clean the house, and I really have wanted to scrapbook a little bit.  Maybe I’ll force myself to do that.

Teaching is going great so far. I’m really enjoying it.  It gets frustrating in the afternoons when they’re all wound up and we have math and science (very hands on and moving around and envokes LOTS of talking and noise).  I am getting used to it though.  Everytime a student comes up and just gives me a hug out of the blue totally makes up for the stress.  They are so stinkin sweet.   Most of the girls in the class are pretty "huggy" and love to give hugs, but of course the boys aren’t so much.  However, lately, one little guy has been showering me with hugs.  Yesterday G was explaining how to do their math test and what to do when they’re done, and Dillon came up to me at the teachers desk and I asked him what he wanted.  He just gave me a hug, sat there for a second, and my heart just smiled. I wanted to scold him and say "Don’t get up while Mrs. F is talking, you need to pay attention" (becuase I can’t stand it when they get up and walk around or get drinks  when I’m explaining something) but how could I do that?? LOL.

Not only are they absolutely sweet, they are hilarious too.  We have one little boy, Brendan, who is such a goofball. You can always joke around with him.  He once came up to me to open his waterbottle, but I thought he just was showing me how heavy it was, so I said "Woah" and handed it back. He said "Uh, could you open it?" and I laughed and then I almost forgot to give him back the plastic cap. He laughed, gave me this huge toothless grin, and said "Now you’re trying to keep my top? Sheesh, Mrs. Barczak! What are you thinking?" So every day when he asks to open the top I take it from him, look at the water bottle and say "OH this is nice Brendan." and hand it back and we laugh.  Another time he cracked me up- we were working on their math workbooks and I misread a problem and then realized it. I said "Oops I was doing that wrong, silly me" and he kind of chuckled and gave me that toothless grin and whispered "Maybe you’re not ready to be a teacher yet"  and  matter of factly chuckled a bit.  I about cracked up, but I just said "Oh I think my brain isn’t working that well today, thats all."   How stinkin funny is he?

So, anyway, next week its all me- I’m teaching the entire curriculum the entire day.  All the planning is mine.  YIKES.  That stresses me out.  So tomorrow I’ll be locked down to the books and that’ll be it.  I have most of the language arts planned for the week, but math, science and social studies (afternoon) isn’t planned and thats the hardest part (at least to me it is).  I really enjoy language arts, but I can tell the afternoon subjects just aren’t my thing.  However, it has to be done.

Well, my time is up and I need to get in the shower and get ready… hopefully I survive today/  Leslie is now watching the girls two days a week and from what she’s updated me with, they have been major brats lately.  Grrrreaaat. I have one email from her that I have got to save because it just cracks me up every time I read it. I can just hear the frustration in her voice when she tells how rotten they were.  I’m sure I’ll be so glad today is the last day.

  1. The students are what make teaching such a fun job! I encourage you to start writing down those funny things that kids say because you’ll never remember them all and its fun to look back at them sometimes and just laugh! I wish I had more of mine written down, but I am actually stating to blog them on another little site I made called “kids say the darndest things!”

  2. Ok- I have not kept up to date with bloggers like I should and I do not have time to catch up on the reading right now…

Did I catch that you are pregnant? If so- congrats! And how far along are you???

I love your blog- I hope I can get caught up on it again- Life has been so hectic this summer. YIKES! :O)

I can not believe anyone gets up that early- crazy! Good luck on teaching this week! I hope you are feeling great!

Kids are sooo fun and cute! I guess that is why i have 4 and keep on having them. LOL. :O)

    Have a great week!
