In my whole 24 years of life (well, 23 years 11 months and 17 days). I’ve always gotten a real tree, and usually went to a tree farm, took a tractor ride with a saw and have helped my family pick out the tree and cut it down. Since Ryan and I were together, we usually went and cut down our own tree, but the year we got married we were too busy to do anything so we didn’t even decorate for Christmas. Last year we just went to Menards and bought a real tree, already cut, from the store, and this year I was just about to be grinch and not decorate again. I didn’t want to deal with a fat tree that would force me to move my furniture around on the walls and make things off center with whats hanging on the walls. Yes, call me anal. I hate things being off center, and I figured if that meant no tree, then so be it. However, I then started thinking about those tall thin trees that Target and other places sell, and thought it wouldn’t be so bad to just get a small skinny fake tree. Well, last night Ry and I went to Menards and checked out their stock of fake trees. I would have been fine with a 4ft skinny minny tree, but Ryan wanted this 7foot tree that seemed like it might be a bit too wide. Well, it WAS the best looking tree there for the price, unless we wanted to spend $200 (no way!). So I gave in and we got the big tall tree. It fits perfectly in the corner, and I only had to move the black cupboard that our phone sits on (so, yes, something is off centered on my wall Blehhh!). The whole time we were disassembling the tree (we had to buy the floor model b/c they were sold out of this style tree) I kept saying "I can’t believe I’m buying a fake tree!" I called my mom and mother-in-law as we left Menards to tell them that *I* bought a fake tree Eeekk! But, I figure once the baby is old enough we can go back to the tree farm and he can help us pick out a real tree and we’ll start that tradition all over again. But for now, I think the fake tree will be nice and easy.

I think it looks cute and will look even better once decorated 🙂 And you will have no mess to clean up!
I love it Nicole! Not too big, not too small. (To get the smell of a real tree I always buy a pine scented candle). :o)
This is my first year for an artificial tree also. I was bummed. I never thought I’d see the day but they are less mess. Plus, we have two artificial trees and I am putting both of those suckers up. I figured what the heck.
