Tags on Clothing….

I can’t believe I almost forgot to post this.  This is hilarious, although some of you who work in schools might be familiar?? However, I’d never hear of this going on until this year.

Ok so the kids come back from Christmas break, and on Tuesday I noticed one of the boys wearing a new sweatshirt and right in the middle of his hood was the big ol bundle of tags (at least 2" by 3").  He never removed them before wearing it.  Now, had I ever done that in school I’d have been mortified.  I mentioned it to Amy and she started huffing, ran to the desk and got her scissors and went and snipped the tag of.  She said "Andrew, don’t you wear those tags on your clothes in my class." He made his little attitudinal "tongue suction click" that you hear annoyed little teenagers make, and Amy explained that its "cool" to keep your tags on your clothes to show you have something new and show off the price.  Weird.

So, today, another boy walks into class. Get this.  Bundles of tags hanging off his shoes, bundles of tags hanging off his pants, bundles of tags hanging off his shirt.  The boy looked like he just stepped out of the dressing room at a store from trying on clothes!  I about peed my pants. I pointed it out to Amy and she shooed Terrance over to the garbage and, to his objection, proceeded to snip away at all his tags.  Now, you know these tags aren’t just one little 1" by 2" tag like on cheap-o Target clothes… these are the ones that have like BUNDLES of 3 tags together for the logo, the price, decoration blah blah.  It just cracks me up that they think its "cool" to show off their tags. Anyone else ever hear of this??

  1. That is (as you would say) SO QUEER. How stupid…so now kids have to show off how much money their clothes cost…That is just absurd. Who cares how much you got your parents to spend on a stupid sweatshirt! Idiotic, I tell ya!
