future basketball player

72706_071_1  Its a given that Porter will *hopefully* love to play basketball… seeing that Ryan loves to coach basketball.  And of course, I love to cheer on his teams.  Its only natural he’ll play.  I guess we’ll see soon enough.  I don’t know why I haven’t thought to take his picture with a basketball… wouldn’t that have been so cute to take it as he grows?  I’ll have to start now.  Good idea.

(that picture of him holding the ball… thats a smaller ball for his basketball hoop that, yes, he already has)

I almost missed my interview tomorrow.  Ok, kind of hard to "almost miss" something that hasn’t yet come up… but Leslie had planned on coming over at 10 am tomorrow to help me with Porter so I could clean.  Ryan reminded me I had the interview at Hunt Club at 10:30.  Yikes!  Oh, of course… I meant 10:15 "MY TIME"  HAHA.

I possibly am in another tug of war with what to do this fall.  I swear my head spins in 1500 different directions.  I talked to G today- the teacher I student taught under (2nd grade) and she and another teacher are wanting to find someone to watch G’s two youngest kids (4yrs and 2mos) and J’s 4 year old.  They are meeting with their principal’s wife tomorrow because she has already been talking to them about watching the kids.  G said they wanted to make sure she would commit to the whole year, and if she himhaws about bailing they won’t use her.   She said she’d then, of course, call me and we could see what we could work out.

Now, my delimma is this.  The other day when I went looking for jobs, I dropped my resume off at a local school district and I talked to the superintendant while I was there.  He needs two Special Ed teachers (middle school and high school) who have their CI endorsement (cognitively impaired aka mentally impaired).  I only have my LD endorsement (learning disabilities).  He told me he was so frustrated with the system that a teacher certified to teach SED can’t teach all areas- that they have to have separate endorsements.  He asked if he had to put someone in the positions that had to go back to school for more classes would I be interested in doing that?  Of course I said yes.  The next day I called him to follow up and tell him I was serious about getting another endorsement if that meant I’d get a job, and he was in a meeting. I spoke to his secretary and aparrently they have to post the job internally first, so it might be awhile before they get back with me if they are interested.

SOOOO…. School starts Sept 5.  What if G wants me to watch the kids?  If I tell her yes, I will NOT back out- I couldn’t do that to someone.  So if I told her yes, and that school calls back, it’d be so hard to turn it down, but I would feel obligated to stick with G for the year.  What about next year… do I go through this whole process AGAIN?   And if I tell G no, and wait it out, what if a teaching position doesn’t come around?  Do I just waitress for a year?  Sit and hope for something better to come around?

Advice???

Gotta run… I hear my cranky sick baby fussing in bed upstairs.

  1. Cute photos with the ball and a great idea to capture it while he is growing up!!!

You have so many things to think about right now with work. What would make you the happiest? That is what you should consider first- I think. 🙂 Then go from there. We are all thinking about you and praying for you, just pray about it and do what feels best without any hesitation. Your happiness is what will make everyone around you happy too!

I am such a cheese ball -sheesh! 🙂

  2. Have you contacted the job placement people at SAU? Don wonders if you have sent out resumes to all of the schools in that area, regardless of hearing about an open position or not.

Keep this in mind…August is the busiest month in the year for teacher hires and transfers. As soon as someone else gets a position at another school, then their original position opens up.

Each teaching job that Don’s started has been a left position in the month of August and he didn’t even have a job until the middle of August.

What I’m trying to say is that there’s still a possibility that something similar to that could be right around the corner for you. A lot can happen in 4-5 weeks still.

Don’t give up so easily. We all believe in you!
