He’s a truck boy

Yesterday Ryan didn’t come home right after work.  I figured he was running some kind of errand or something, and an hour later, he waltzed in the door with a smug grin on his face.

And produced this… for his little P-Man.

Oh boy, what spoiled little Daddy’s Boy…. I then remembered the day before, when Ryan and I were playing with Porter in the playroom Ryan telling him "Daddy’s going to go buy you a truck after work tomorrow."  Porter loves trucks. He loves the wheels on them.  He loves his big dump truck and his other cars and trucks (as you can see in the picture, the’re all strewn about, being rolled here and there by P).

So, anyway, I was just kind of touched that he went out of his way and brought home a truck for his little guy.  But then a little nervous when he mentioned "I almost bought him all three in the set!"  Uhhh… hold back the dish of Spoiled Kid, alright?

Last night was uneventful.  I had quite a stressful, drama (with a capital "D") filled day, and ended up with a horrible migrane early evening.  I headed to bed early, thinking I’d just rest it off for half an hour and get stuff I needed to get done finished late in the evening after my migrane was gone.  Nope.  It stuck, and even this morning my head feels a little icky still.

Porter slept in until 8am this morning, and didn’t wake up for a bottle at 5/6amish. He’s such a good boy.  Yesterday he slept until 7:30. I’m hoping he’s getting himself into a more regular schedule.  He’s growing so fast!  Here are some hightlights of what he can do at just-turned-8-months.

  • He easily pulls himself up to everything and anything….. the dresser, the coffee table, the entertainment center, his train table, your leg, the tv-trays… you name it, he tries to stand by it.
  • He’s now crusing the furniture- he started with the coffee table, and he’d take a few steps sideways to get to the remote or whatever "No-Baby" object he could reach.  He now goes back and forth between the couch and the coffee table.  He does really good- he reaches out really far with one hand to see if he can reach, and if he can’t, he takes a few steps, and tries again.  Where has my baby gone??
  • He is eating more and more big-people foods.  Yesterday he ate half a bagel at Sawyers house, he ate pizza crust the other night, sloppy joe on Halloween at nana and papas, chicken noodle soup last night for dinner, and then wanted some of Ryan and my BBQ chicken and garlic bread when we ate our dinners.  He wants to eat everything that we’re eating.
  • He crawls around like a bandit… and I mean he has gotten fast.  He crawls over things too, and tumbles all around.  I’ll lay on the floor and he’ll crawl up to me, crawl over my stomach to get over me (sometimes falling on his face in the process, but never missing a beat).
  • He knows when its bath time… when he hears the bath running he crawls speedily to the bathroom and stands next to the tub for us to undress him

He is just growing and changing so much every day.  I can’t believe my eyes sometimes.

Well, thats about it for the update today.  Maybe more later…

  1. I know I have said this before, but it seems like I was just visiting you at the hospital when Porter was born. I am excited to have Reyna here and then, on the other hand, I’m not. When she arrives, all she is going to do is grow up. It makes me sad to think about. And as I am typing, my ribs are being kicked by her tiny little foot. Maybe I am ready to have her here. 🙂
