I love blog-stalking

I love blog-stalking (almost as much as I love getting comments from my own blog-stalkers…)… see, I got a comment today (yoo hoo… Alicia!!) and I followed her link to her blog and look at this cool idea I found… 25 Days til Christmas Socks (scroll down once you go to the link). What a neat idea!  And it’d be pretty useful for all those mis-matched pairs of socks that the dryer-monster eats (where the h&ll do those socks go anyway??).

Now, I’m going to shout out to all of my blog stalkers… I know you’re reading.  I get occasional emails from people, finding out that some people have even been following my blog since I was pregnant with Porter (ahem.. ahem… Kristina & little Olivia….).  I love getting comments from people, don’t feel odd or stalker-ish (ok, we’re ALL stalkers… aren’t we??).  So, here’s my challenge… POST a comment… if you’re reading, I know you are… I get hundreds of views each day… but very few comments.  Who are you?  I’d love to hear from you all… even those of you who I know, either from online or ‘in real life’.  Where are my commenters?  Show me some love!!

So… moving on… whats new.

Today we went to church!  YAY.  Haven’t been there in FOREVER.  See, they used to have fusion (aka, "service" at more traditional churches) at 9:30 and 11:15, and that was right in the middle of P’s naps.   Today, he woke up at 7am (ohhh… after a hellish night… more about that later…) and went down fairly early for his morning nap (9:30… early for him…) and I woke him up just before we had to leave.  AHHH. I love going to church. I forget how much I love going until I get back there.  Its so easy to slide and say "Ohh I have so much to do… I could get a lot done if I just stay in my pj’s all day and do laundry and clean the house"…

About my hellish night… UGH.

See, yesterday Porter didn’t eat very well during the day.  He woke up from his afternoon nap really cranky.  He had a diaper rash (red, raised bumps) and one bigger bump on his back (about half the size of a dime) and it was red and raised.  His cheeks and nose and chin had been red and rashy looking too.

We put him to bed at 7pm, since he was so cranky, and he was up again at 8:30 or 9 bawling.  I rocked him back to sleep and he was up again in half an hour.  Ryan got him this time, and brought him downstairs.  His hand had red spots on the top of it. Ryan wanted to take him into the ER… but I felt kind of dumb going and saying "Uh.. my baby has a diaper rash… and few spots on his hand and back"

I racked my brain to think of what new things he had eaten that day.  He had canaloupe and some freeze dried strawberreis (which I had read not to give berries to babies under 12 mo for the fact that they’re a high allergen food, but it was a Gerber food product, so I figured they wouldn’t make it if it wasn’t safe for babies… right?)… anyway, my mom told me to give him Benadryl.

Now, after all this happening this week with Teegan, I was scared out of my mind to put him to bed with a new medicine.  I was scared just because he was acting so weird.  So, Ryan went to get Benadryl at the store, and I posted to my awesome ladies on Scrapjazz.  Karen (kacomi) called her doctor sister and got the correct dosage for a 9month old, and most everyone thought P had a case of the hives and was probably allergic to the strawberries (who knew so many kids were allergic!!).  I gave him the dosage and put him to bed.  Then, Kim called (err… phoned) me from Canada and we chatted about babies and being sick and all that for a bit, and after chatting with her for awhile I realized Porter was upstairs STILL screaming in bed.

I ended my phone conversation, and it was about 11pm at this time.  I rocked him  back to sleep and within 15 minutes he was screaming again.  I rocked him again, giving him a 4oz bottle- getting desperate… and he went back to sleep.  About 5 minutes later he was screaming again.  I sat in the rocker with him for awhile, and he kept waking up every 10-15 minutes, and he’d cry for about 1 minute then fall back asleep. (however, when I put him in bed, when he cried he’d just keep crying).  So, I was getting exhausted at this point, so I brought him to bed with me, thinkig maybe he just wanted to be close to us.  I’d get him to sleep, and he’d wake up… repeat… repeat… repeat… repeat…. So I finally went back into his room and attempted to sleep sitting up in his rocker… we spent over an hour going from sleeping to restless and crying back to sleeping.  Finally, around 3am I got him to sleep for good, and put him in bed.  UGH.  What a night.

Hmm.. anything else?  Sorry to go on such a hiatus for so long and then come back with so much to say…

Oh… a YIPPEE for me… I’m done Christmas shopping. I ordered the last few things today from Amazon.com.  I do have a few things to return.. bought them and changed my mind and bought different gifts… but other than that, I’m done!! YAY!! Next year I might just order everything online… so much easier.

  1. Wow, I made your blog! I think you’ve inspired me to start up my own blog! Sorry P was acting funny, hope he’s calmed down tonight and the bumps are gone. We’ve had a few of those nights (minus the bumps).

  2. Hey Nic! Sorry I haven’t commented in forever! I’ve been reading, just too lazy to write a commnet.

Sorry about your long, crazy night. I’m glad everything was okay with Mr. Porter man. I meant to tell you that I love the new pics of him – adorable! Hope everything is going well.

  3. HAHAHA I seriously enjoyed the “phoned” part of that entry – what is wrong with you people that you don’t say that? LOL Then again, you do say “Oh my word” and I’ve never heard anyone here say that LOL

That sucks about P – hope he was feeling better today. Wonder if he’s getting more teeth too, that can do it. When M is getting teeth, everything is affected from a rash to an upset stomach! Thank goodness we are done now until about 2!

  4. Nic- Hope P is feeling better! Keep us posted on Jessica too~I missed the deadline of getting a password to keep up on her site.

  5. I hope you don’t mind stalkers. Yours is one of about 7-10 that I check every day and I also Blog-Hop like a mad woman!! LOL!!
All 3 of my kids are sick and I’ve been scared to give them meds lately now too.
Also, you’re one of the few people who’s actually taken the time to comment on my Blog too. The people I know that read it either don’t or don’t know how. ;P

  6. Glad to see you’re back to your old blogging self!!
You’re starting to sound like me with the way you’ve been so random and rambling the last few posts! Good to have you back.

  7. Hi Nicole! I’ve been “blog-stalking” for awhile now, yours is one of about 15 I read. I love hearing about Porter, I really hope he’s getting feeling better! Anyways, Happy Holidays!

  8. Hey Nicole!

I hope Porter is feeling better. Did the bumps go away? It is so hard when they are little and can’t tell you what is wrong. Well I just thought I would pop in and say Hi!

  9. I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time. Glad you don’t mind stalkers ;)—I love to read your blog along with a couple other scrapjazzers 🙂 I am from SJ too.
i hope you have caught up on your sleep with Porter.
    Happy Holidays!
    Blessings, Lisa

  10. I hope Porter is feeling better! I’ve had those nights many times with my three. It’s not fun when the kiddies are not feeling well. Hope you get some much needed rest tonight.

  11. I am a stalker culprit! And I should know better cause I have a regular blog, and wonder who the heck is reading since I get so many “footprints” but so few comments. Anyways, I think your little one is just the cutest, and am expecting our son in 2 weeks! Seeing all the adorable photos of Porter keep me in such anticipation of my own baby boy!

  12. Well I was not expecting to see my name on your entry today as I came by for a quick “stalking”! lol Glad you enjoued the socks! We only ever have missing whites on and I think that would look funny on my wall, plus you would see the different “whites”! lol
So sorry to hear about your little boys bad night! I hope he starts feeling better soon!

  13. I read your blog all the time, I am Shaggy from Scrapjazz. I love your work and your son is almost the same age as my daughter Morgan so I love reading all about Porter. Your photography is beautiful, you are my inspiration! I don’t usually post because i run a daycare attached to my house and between that my baby girl, my son and husband I usually read and get off the computer quick. So I am one of your stalkers.

  14. You already know that I stalk you, but I figured I would post and say hello. Hope you had a good weekend minus the hellish night with P. Hope he is feeling better. Talk to you soon.

  15. I love to read your blog everyday and check out your new pictures! You do such a fantastic job with your photography! Merry Christmas!

  16. I’ll comment 🙂

I’ve been ‘following along’ since you’ve been pregnant with Porter… got a kick out of you being a photographer and living so close by (I live in Battle Creek) and you seemed like someone I’d know… you update your blog so frequently its fun to stalk and keep an eye on.

I often think of comments I want to leave, but I’m too busy to even keep up with my own blog lol so I’ll just shout out to you here so you know I’m one of your fans 🙂

  17. I’m a total stalker. I started stalking your layouts at Scrapjazz now I stalk your blog too. 🙂 Your LOs and photography are great inspiration. Hope you make it through the holiday blahs. It does take a lot of the fun out of the season when you have to trudge all over hell’s half acre to see everyone. No matter how hard you try you never see everyone or spend “enough” time with the people you do see. Hope Christmas at your house is relaxing and fun! Good luck with your interview.

  18. Hey Nicole! I’m a stalker and well just read this entry since I’ve been a little under the weather. I’m a jazzer on SJ and found your blog that way…love your photography by the way.

    Hope Porter is doing better!

  19. I just read this post–been away for few days. I’m your stalker too. Saw you on scrapjazz and fell in love with your photography!!!! My baby is a little over a year old and she and Porter seem to be meeting all their milestones at the same time. He’s a pretty smart little boy!
