Our computer basically crashed today.
I’m at the inlaws, using their computer. Uploading pictures to disks so I can use my card for the next few days.
The computer starts up, gets to the "COMPAQ" logo screen then starts from the beginning again… never making it to Windows.
Ryan talked to Compaq, they think its a Windows problem… said to take it to Best Buy to have them back up my harddrive.
Oh, did I mention I have about 3 months worth of pictures I haven’t backed up? Yeah. Total FREAKING Nightmare.
I was practically in tears at Best Buy. The guy must think I’m nuts. The guy said he thought it sounded like a harddrive problem… which put me into more emotional turmoil.
So, I filled out the paperwork… tried to remember my "IMPORTANT" files on my computer (a number somewhat equivalent to a million….) and they told me they’d give me a call in a few days.
I won’t have home computer access for a few days. And even once I get my computer… I will have to do system restore, and it’ll take a bit to get it running again. Let’s hope that the system restore will cure it… and I don’t need a new computer. UGH. What a nightmare. I will seriously cry if they can’t get those files. And all the files that run my new website… not backed up. Yes, I’m an idiot.

I’m sorry that sure does suck. My husband is a Geek Squad Agent, and when this exact same thing happened to my computer, it turned out it was a fried part (memory or ram or something) and he just put the whole thing into another computer and it worked fine… so hopefully that is what will happen for you 🙂 Best wishes…

I feel your pain! I finally was just able to retrieve my files off my harddrive…after a month of trying! I won’t even get into how big of a PITA its goign to be to have to reinstall ALL of your programs 😦
