Porter lately…

Is like a walking maniac.  He is into EVERYTHING.  Thanks for jinxing me, Kim.  HAHA!

I can’t clean my house without pretty much following him and cleaning up AGAIN after him. Normally its just his toys and books that he has strewn all over the house

(note to self… take a picture the full effect of this mess), but occasionally he gets into his diaper cabinet in his room….

And quite often I forget to zip up my purse and find this…

He’s also recently decided its super fun to throw his toys, cups, fridge letters, clothes and whatever else he can get his hands on… OVER the dog gate by the back door.  The dogs accumulate quite a menagerie of items from him.  This morning he threw over his cup of milk. I found it later, in the basement, chewed up by the dog.  Nice.

On Friday, he didn’t sleep at all in the afternoon. For his morning nap I let him sleep a little longer (until 10:30 instead of 10) as I knew we’d be running errands for awhile into the afternoon.  I still figured he’d take a late afternoon nap.  Well, I put him down at 3, and he fussed, and then played.  Fussed and then played.  For over an hour he just screwed around in his crib.  So, around 4:30 I decided to go in and get him, as I really didn’t want him sleeping that late in the day.  I kept hearing him saying "boo!" and laughing and making all sorts of noise… by himself.   Here is what I found….

We put sheets over his windows (because we like to be trashy like that) so that his room is dark for naps.  He had pulled the sheet into his bed and was playing peek-a-boo with himself.  What a dork! He was in a great mood, though.  He was all smiles, running around his crib, playing peek-a-boo with us and giggling like a little fool.

And today. Oh, this is so hilarious.  I was downstairs and I heard Ryan reading a book to Porter.  This new book I bought for him… called "Never Shout in a Zoo".  All of a sudden, I heard Porter bawling.  An upset kind of cry.  Ryan was busting a gut, so of course I had to go investigate.

Apparently, the part of the book when the bear runs past the moose freaks him out.

Ryan stopped reading the book, but then Porter grabbed it and brought it over to me.  And sure enough, when we got to the bear/moose page, the tears came again.  So funny!

One more last thing… quick.  I ordered a large print for a display at my hairdressers salon.  I did a session for her last fall, and offered to buy her a large print and frame it for her salon area.  I found a frame yesterday and I just am so happy with how it looks.  What do you think? The print is an 11×14 framed up to an 14×18 I think.  I love it.  I can’t wait to take it to her!

Coming up soon…. Nicole discusses Nicole’s issues with she and her husband talking in third person about themselves.  Stay tuned!

  1. Porter is too funny! Ahh, the things I have to look forward to…

The print looks gorgeous. How lucky is your hairdresser?!?

  2. I warned you!! Isn’t it crazy? And I hate to say it sista, but it only gets worse. LOL Welcome to toddlerhood, it’s a frightening place! Did you read my blog about M eating my deoderant? Ay yi yi. These kids are weird, I tell you.

As far as throwing stuff over the gate, Morgan does that (aimed at me) when I leave daycare! LMAO
