Happy Mother’s Day!

Well, our day started out really bad.  Ry let me sleep in this morning, which was nice.  However, it would have been a lot nicer had I not been dreaming about my child falling down the stairs at church and being unconscious and having to call 911 while the pastor continued on with fusion.  Weird, because we don’t even have stairs in the room at church, and in my dream there was no rail, guard, gate etc.  Anyway, all through my dream, Ry and I were calm, and I kept saying "I just hope he doesn’t have any internal bleeding!!" and we just carefully lifted him and held him while everyone continued singing and listening, as we waited for the ambulance.  Psychotic, huh?

Anyway, I was pleasantly awakened by my very much alive and well son, and husband, who had hand-made me a card.  So sweet… Ry gets into my scrapbook stuff and comes up with the sweetest cards.  They aren’t all that aesthetically pretty… but they are so heartfelt I love them. I love the fact that he tries.

My mom came over and we went to a new little diner down the road for breakfast.  Won’t go back there again.  We had a trashy looking young waitress, who obviously was new.  She took our order, and about 40 minutes later we were still waiting.  Uh, how long does it take to make pancakes and scrambled eggs?  Porter was getting really restless and hungry.  My mom asked her if our food was ready, and you could tell she had no idea how to answer her.  I then noticed her up at the counter flipping through her tickets, looking over her tables, like she was trying to figure out what ticket she was missing.  Then another waitress came and they both looked through her tickets, and looked over all the tables, etc…. After that the second waitress came to our table and said "Oh it’ll be just a few minutes on your food, your waitress is bringing it out right now.  We had a table of 15 over there and the kitchen is backed up"

Thats fine… except it was still another 20 minutes until our food came out.  At least three tables around us got their food before us, three tables that sat at LEAST 20 minutes after us.  We were all irritated.   Once our food came, my mom said something to the second waitress (not the one that originally was our waitress… she must have chickened out and ditched our table) and she said that the ticket time was 20 minutes and they were right on track with when she took our order… Uh, well, maybe if she fudged the time they were on track.  Idiots.  Dang, if you screwed up just freaking admit it and it’d make things a whole lot more tolerable.

Anyway, I went up to pay and the manager (or I am assuming he was some sort of manager… and elderly guy) asked how it was.  I said "Well, the food was good, but the service wasn’t so great."  He got all defensive "What do you mean?"  and I told him what happened and he said "Well, you’ve got to expect that on a day like today!  We are a lot busier than normal!"  And I explained that tables that sat after us were given their food a lot sooner, and he made some excuse that a ticket did get pushed ahead of others so they probably did get their food first.  Anyway, basically he told me I was an impatient bitch and should expect to wait nearly an hour for breakfast.  So, I left the waitress two pennies… I didn’t want her to think I’d forgotten her tip… but I wanted her to know she SUCKED.  (a little hint I got from the Morrisons!! HAHA!).

After all that, I wasn’t in the best of moods.  We hung out at home, and after Porter’s nap we went to Ry’s parents to have steaks and ribs for dinner.  It was a nice relaxing evening and I got a ton of great pictures!  So, get ready for photo overload!

First… my hubby was so sweet and willing to catch a few pictures of Porter and I on Mother’s Day…

  1. Nic-

Hope you had a Happy Mothers Day! It would have been tempting to tell the guy where to take the bill & place it 🙂 I cannot believe what a bugger he was-obviously not a place to patronize! Great pictures-the girls are getting so big (as is Porter)
