Day 2:

Well we made it through the night.  Thanks for all the kind words…  I usually don’t mind traveling alone, however I never stopped to think that I always travel alone during the day and its never been to the destination of a lonely hotel room.

Porter slept in until 9:30am (MI time… I think this area we’re in is on MI time as the alarm clock is set to that time).  It was nice to get a good nights sleep.  He was so silly this morning, totally making me laugh.  I was looking through pics from this week and he was laying next to me on my arm. He saw Savannah and pointed out "Beana!"  (thats what he calls Savannah).  He saw a picture of me and Heather and said "Mama!" and I said "Porter… who is that?" and pointed to Heather.  He says "Feak!"  HAHAHA! (I knew you’d love that H!).  The story behind that is this… Porter was bugging me one day this week and I said "Porter!  You’re a freak!" and he looks at me and says "Feak!  Feak feak feak feak feak" like a million times.

And then, I was in the bathroom and Porter was on the bed.  There’s a mirror on the wall that, from the bed, Porter could see me in the mirror in the bathroom.  He was all smiley and giggly and got off the bed and ran to the mirror, still looking at me in the mirror.  He was practically right outside the bathroom door, but he didn’t think to turn around to see me.  He thought the mirror was a door and kept saying (to the me in the mirror) "Open!  Help open and trying to pull on the mirror.  I finally got him to turn around to see me and he cracked up!

Anyhow, today I’m going to hop in the shower and we’re heading to a Target for a bit (to return a dress and to just kill some time).  Then we’re going to get on the road for a bit and then get lunch.  And fill up on gas before we go for the long haul.  Hopefully after that Porter  will fuss himself to sleep and take a nap for a long leg of the trip.  Hopefully.

Today shouldn’t be too horrible as its daytime.

  1. Good Luck with the drive home!! Isn’t St. Louis a fun fun city, I love their zoo & how the heck is it free!? I wish we had a free zoo around here….

Any bites on the house yet??

  2. Glad to hear that your trip home is a bit better. It is so hard traveling with a toddler! I get just as paranoid at night driving though, especially with Olivia. I’m a freak about when I’m driving alone and at night, I won’t listen to CD’s, I have to have the radio on, just in case something bad is happening like the world is ending!! Weird, I know, but if I had a CD in, I wouldn’t be in the know-like I’m out of touch with the world….I don’t get it either 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your time with P.
