Thinking ahead…

Last night I was thinking that I should get something planned and paid for for our anniversary (November 15).  We’ll be pretty broke this fall/winter since I’ll be student teaching, so if we can get somethind paid for ahead of time we’ll be somewhat stress free and have somewhere nice to go for our anniversary.

The only ideas I’ve come up with so far are these:

  • Take a train to Chicago and stay there for a weekend
  • Drive to Niagara Falls, which I’ve wanted to do since last summer
  • Mackinaw Island

Anyone been to Chicago and know of a good hotel to stay in?  We went there for our "mini-moon" after we got married, and stayed at the House of Blues Hotel (a Loews Hotel) which was nice, but didn’t have a pool.

Well, maybe I’ll check out travelocity or expedia and see if there are any good deals.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!!

  1. I’ve never been to Chicago so I don’t have any ideas for hotels, but you may want to ask Heather Ann. (You can find a link to her blog on mine. She’s from Chicago and might know of some good ones). I think Niagra Falls would be awesome though.

  2. My vote would be for Chi-town. Stayed downtown at the Hyatt Regency when I was a teenager, but, don’t remember much about it. I’ve heard that the Embassy Suites is really nice.

You guys would have so much fun at Niagara Falls, but, you MUST wait to go in the summer. There are so many fun things to do when it’s warmer and you can walk everywhere!

As for Mackinaw Island, that’s totally a spring (late May/early June) trip. The flowers are beautiful!

Let me know what you decide. Good girl, planning ahead.

  3. CHICAGO!!!! It is so much fun there. We always stay with family so I don’t have any hotel recom. but the city is very cool!
