Wow.  I have lots of new pictures to share….

I haven’t been doing so well updating the blog… I’ve been a bit busy with school. Friday is the last day, and then I’ll be home for the summer with my little guy.  I can’t wait to spend the days with him… I miss him when I’m at school!

Tomorrow I go to meet the families that possibly want me to nanny for them this fall.  I am really leaning towards taking the nanny job.  The way I look at it is the job market is so sucky right now, what am I waiting around for?  I can take a year off and nanny and be with Porter and hopefully next year (or in the next few years) there’ll be more jobs opening up.  And, most people (working moms who stayed home for a few years with their kids) I’ve talked to have said they don’t regret it at all.  And honestly, in 10 or 20 years will I look back and say "Gosh I wish I had worked that year" or will I say "Gosh I wish I’d been home for Porter’s first year".  I mean, really…. jobs will come and go, but my baby will only be a baby once.  However, as I say this, I also know if those kids I meet tomorrow are rotten brats, there is no way in hell I’ll spend 40 hours a week with them.  NOOO way. 

Porter’s new thrills: 

He loves his Baby Einstein videos, of course.  He hasn’t watched them in about a week, but when they work like a charm to give me free time to get in the shower etc. 

He also got a new set of wheels… well, springs, I suppose it would be.  I found this cute car exercaucer at a garage sale… and got it for a steal at $8! 

 

He’s found his tongue… and can’t stop playing with it.

This kid always has his tongue sticking out… I swear one would think it was swollen and unable to fit in his mouth.  I think he’s going to be one of those kids who sticks their tongue out when they’re writing, coloring, concentrating etc… Yesterday he was at my moms and was playing with a balloon.  He was laying on the floor and jerking the string, tongue sticking out.  He likes you to pet his tongue too.  Ok that sounded sick.  But when he sticks his tongue out and you touch it, he sticks it out further… and flaps it around.  Crazy kid.  He’s also fascinated with sticking his fingers in his mouth, and playing with his tongue with his thumb and pointer finger.  The discoveries of a 15 week old. 

Can he look any more serious?  I found this picture while sifting through the hundreds on my computer.  This was at Cam’s baseball game.  He looks so serious.  Don’t mess with him or he might lick you with his tongue. 

We’re working on getting into a schedule.  For the last week and a half he’s been sleeping through the night.  Goes to bed around 8:30pm, wakes for an 11/11:30pm bottle and sleeps till about 7am.  However, the last couple nights he’s been waking up around 4am… not fun.  Tonight I’m going to attempt to let him get back to sleep on his own.

So I need to get his naps on a schedule.  The morning is going pretty well… he wakes at 7am and has a bottle (he’s up to 6oz now) and then we play for a few hours.  At 9am I lay him down for his morning nap (he fusses for about 5 minutes then goes to sleep).  He sleeps till about 10:30/11 and then eats again.  Then our routine kind of falls apart… partly because he’s been shuffled from house to house each afternoon for the last 3 weeks while I’ve been working.  Some days he takes good afternoon naps, some days he only takes a few short ones and even takes an evening nap.  So, hopefully this weekend and next week we can get on some sort of a schedule in the afternoon also. 

Seriously, though, I love this kid to death.  Every day I think "Oh my word can I love him any more?" and yes, of course each day I love him even more.  Sometimes I look at him and can’t believe he’s mine. Ok, ours… but he is so mama’s boy. I love the way he looks at me when I’m talking… and then cracks up like I’ve said something funny.  Ahhh. No one could have ever told me being a mom would be this awesome.
