that Kim would be after me soon if I didn’t update my blog. Its been TWO DAYS. Ohhh sorry Kim! HAHAHA. Eat your heart out, girlfriend. This is the longest post in history.
We have had a busy, hectic and stressful day.
Ryan’s grandma has been in the hospital for the last few weeks and she passed away this evening. As I type, Ryan is at the hospital with his family. Porter was being a pill tonight (I’ll get to that later) so I stayed home with his cranky butt. Please keep his family in your thoughts. I know this has been especially hard on Ryan’s mom and her brothers. Ry’s grandma was such a funny lady. She was very witty and humorous, although I’m sure a lot of the time she wasn’t intending to be funny. I remember just after Porter was born she came by with Ryan’s parents to see him. She brought him an afghan that her friend knit. My mom asked if she knit it and she replied smartly "I don’t have time to knit. I work part time at Sams club!" That got a few giggles out of me. She always had little gifts for her great-grandbabies. Every holiday we got together she’d bring little stuffed animals or outfits. I’m sad that Porter won’t have the chance to know her once he’s older.
Well, here’s my rundown of the day. Most of the day did not consist of Porter-stress. Missy was awesome and took him for the day so that Ryan and I could get some much needed housework done.
The back landing needed to be mudded, sanded and painted (we got the mudding done).
We needed to get the crown molding up in our bedroom (check!),
Paint the trim in the living room (check!)
and I rearranged the landscaping in the front of our house (check!). Wow lots of stuff done! I also managed to get to Target after dropping Porter off and picked up formula and diapers. UGH we spend so much money on that stuff!
So anyway, Ryan was ticked at the crown molding b/c he couldn’t figure out how to cut it on his miter saw. I finally printed directions off the internet and after that things went smoothly. It took me FOREVER to paint the trim. I ended up running to Menards to get a new paintbrush b/c mine kept leaving streaks. I bought some new plants for the front landscaping and when I got home I rearranged all that. Woah mama.
Porter was home by the time I got back from Menards. Ryan ran to my mom’s and not long after he left I see my mom driving back with Ryan in her car. The Durango broke down.
Wouldn’t start.
Great. Just what we need.
This crap always happens just when we’re down in the dumps and extremely broke. The air conditioning hasn’t been working since we went camping in Holland, and the bearings were all messed up (I have no idea…. I just know it made weird noises when it was running and made a weird smell). We hadn’t had the chance (or $$) to get the a/c fixed. Ryan thinks something with the a/c is making it not run. I have no clue. Maybe he’ll leave a comment and clear this all up because- well, I can’t explain it.
Anyway…. so OHH I also forgot to mention last weeken Ryan’s dad crinked up my car hood. (I was going to use the word crumpled but that makes it sound really bad.) Not horrible but cracked the grill, crinked up the hood.
He drove it into a camper.
Yup. He was parking it at the campground (moving it off their campsite to one where the people weren’t there that weekend- its a seasonal campground) and anyway he hit the gas and the brake at the same time and drove into the corner of it.
Remind me NOT to let him get ahold of my car keys again. 🙂
Back to the story…. the Santa Fe is going to be fixed the beginning of this week. And now the Durango isn’t running, so we pretty much have NO vehicle this week. Nice, huh? Hopefully I can get a loaner from the dealership when I take the Santa Fe in to get fixed, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to. (I’m gonna have to ask my "connections" haha!)
WOah I almost forgot to fill you in on my crank of a child. Porter took an awesome nap for Missy- 2.5 hours! He came home at 5ish and was awake and happy for a few hours. Around 6:30 I put him in his swing to watch an Einstien so I could go plant my flowers. He fell asleep for about half an hour- not unusual. He often takes short little evening naps.
Anyway, when he woke up Ryan played with him for a bit and then got him a bottle and was going to put him to bed. Well, in the middle of his bottle the air compressor turned on and scared the sh*t out of him. (ok, not literally). He was freaking out. I took him from Ryan and went to put his pj’s on and finish his bottle. He would not stop fussing. I spent about an hour and a half trying to get him to go to sleep.
I tried letting him cry.
I tried patting his butt.
I tried rubbing his back and face.
He’d get to sleep but the second I stopped patting or rubbing he’d wake up and whine. This was totally not his normal. So I finally got him up and decided to go lay down in my bed with him on my chest/stomach. He kept swatting at my face and grabbing my lips. So we got up and went into the living room where he became engrossed with the Tigers game. He played in his car until about 11:30pm. I got him another bottle and FINALLY he fell asleep. What a turd. He had better sleep in tomorrow morning!!
Ok… so I think thats enough updating. We’re having a few friends over to cookout tomorrow and we still have a TON of things to get done in the house. I should get to bed and get rested so we can be up bright and early.

Whoa, that was one long post – impressive! And yes, I was coming to see if you updated. You are now on my good list – unlike some other bloggers!!
