Porter’s going to have a merry little Christmas…

I bought Porter’s Christmas present today.  Well, originally I didn’t think of it as that, but after the fact I decided… heck yeah this counts as his Christmas present.  The daycare (Angels Among Us) closed last month, and today they were having a sale to get rid of all the toys and baby items.

In the mass of everything was a train table with three huge bags of trains and wooden train tracks (I don’t think they were Thomas brand… maybe Brio?).  I eyed the table, thinking of how much I’d love for Porter to have one when he’s a little older, but dismissed the idea because we 1) don’t have the room for it right now and 2)don’t have the money to spend on it.

However…

I went back with Leslie and found myself drawn to it again.  I remember looking at the prices of little wooden trains at the Toy House a few months ago with Ryan.  We knew Thomas trains were expensive, but we were floored when we saw even the no-name brand trains were like $10 a train.

I called Ryan and asked if he thought I should get the train table and set.  He told me to offer them lower.

I did.

And I bought it… $50 for everything.  I priced the table online… the table alone was $160.  I’m way excited about it.  I think i secretly just want to play with it myself.  I wish we had somewhere to set it up.

I think I got a great deal, even though its not something we really need right now.  I know in a year Porter will love it (oh lord I hope he loves it…).  It is now going to be his Christmas present this year.  No toys for this dude.  He’s got a rockin train set (that he’ll still be too young to play with… and we don’t even have anywhere to put it!).

More than likely, we’ll store it in my mom’s basement or maybe above Ry’s dad’s barber shop.  If we don’t end up moving, I have a feeling our guest room is going to get converted into a toy room.  Ouch.

Here’s a few pictures to share today….

  1. That is a steal of a deal on the table and trains! We bought one for the boys and they loved it. He will love it.

Does it have the storage bins that go underneath? If not- they are great too! Make shift toy boxes!
