Morrisons…

Let me tell you…. I was SO nervous and intimidated to do this
session tonight. I am not quite sure why.. I think its a combination of
things.  When I shoot strangers, I can act all goofy and crazy with the
family, and not feel strange. They don’t know me.  I can mess around
and act like an idiot and get the kids to smile (ok, so I did act a
little retardo today, right?), but when I’m with people I know, I kind
of freeze… I am nervous to just let loose in front of them.  That,
and I am nervous that they won’t like their pictures and for some
reason not like me because of that.  I’m weird, yes, I know.

It also didn’t help that we had a full, blaring sun.  Not a cloud in sight. I’m not quite
confident with shooting with backlighting yet (must… practice…
this….) and the park we went to didn’t have a ton of open shade to
use.

Anyhow, I was so excited to do these pictures, yet very nervous.
When I take pictures, I kind of just go with it, I have no plan.  Maybe
a few ideas, but no plan.  We just fly by the seat of my pants and hope
for the best.  By the end of this session, we had two tired parents,
two hungry and cranky kiddos and one anxious photographer.  I,
honestly, wasn’t sure if I had anything good on my 2 CF cards.

However….

as I began editing…

I found this….
Proof_51_254

and this…
Proof_49_252

and these two…
Proof_42_214  Proof_47_231

and my nerves settled.  I ended up with far more proofs than I had imagined.  I hope I’ve lived up to their expectations.

  1. They are really great Nicole! Definitely better than I expected (not that I underestimated YOU, I just know how difficult it is to get good shots of my kids… heck, of all of us!)
As nervous as you might get shooting people you know, it makes us soooooo much more comfortable… especially the kiddos! You did an awesome job.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  2. Nic, I love the pictures. You did a fantastic job. It makes me want to have family pics done soooo bad, but then again, we do have to wait until the baby is here. Have a great day.

  3. That’s Sawyer and Savannah right? Do I know your life or what? LOL I always know Sawyer as I love a chunky monkey, having one myself and all.

The pics turned out great, love them! I haaaaate shooting in full sun, nothing ever turns out right but yours look fab!!
