fOntS FoNts fONtS

I’ve been downloading a LOT of fonts today… I am in search of a particular script font, and just can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.  I have, however, found lots of other scripty fonts I like.   I have a few free font sites I visit, so I thought I’d do a post on fonts…

Websites to check out:
Abstract Fonts
DaFont
Blue Vinyl Fonts
Fonts for Kids
Fonts for Peas
Scrapvillage Fonts
Scrapping With Style
Typenow.net

And now, for a little tutorial on downloading and installing fonts…

To download fonts:
This is pretty simple, just follow your computer.

  • Click on the font you want to download, or click the download button for that font (each site is different)
  • A "File Download" box will pop up.  I have Mozilla Firefox, so I have these two options: "Open With" or "Save to Disk"
  • I select "Open With Compressed Folder" (Save to Disk saves it on my desktop… which I don’t care for).  However, if you have another browser, you can select "Save".
  • Find a folder to save your font to.  I created a folder called "Fonts" and I save all of my downloaded fonts there.
  • Then your font will show up in a window, and you have to extract it.  In my window, there is the option that says "Extract All Files"
  • Click to extract the file, and choose your destination to save the extracted file in (I choose the same folder that I originally saved it in).
  • Voila!

To Install Fonts

  • Navigate to MyComputer/C Drive/Windows/Fonts
  • Click on "File"
  • Go to "Install New Font"
  • Where it says "Folders", navigate to where you saved/unzipped your font file and click on that file
  • It will list your fonts in the window above that.  Highlight the ones you want to add (hold the CTRL key while selecting more than one font)
  • Then click "OK"

I hope that was easy enough to follow.  Good luck and happy font-hunting!

  1. Hey, thanks for the links! Kind of funny cuz I had just got a handful of new ones the other day (I think fontfreak is where I usually go) and I was thinking that I really wanted to take some time to find and download a bunch of good ones. I’ve just been feeling real tired of the same ol’, same ol’, ya know?
