If I had a Million Dollars

Ok, or even like $1,000 or so…  there are lots of things on my "really want to have this" list.  Mostly for my photography business, so I know eventually I’ll have them… I just need to start actually making some money…

1. Canon 35mm f/2 wide angle lens.  MMmm MmMMM MMmmm. I really want this.  And, Jess has been an enabler again, and said I should have this as my "reward" once my Weight Watchers is successful.  Hmm…

2. Backdrop Stand.  I really do need this, it’d make it so much easier to do sessions indoors, and not look like an idiot asking to use peoples IRONING boards to drape my background over…

3. Backdrop.  No explanation needed.

4. Flat screen Monitor.  I swear, my monitor is going bad.  The words are hard to read if they’re to small.  Like smaller than 12pt font.  And I have good eyesight.  So, soon I will be needing a new monitor.  I’m nervous to change though because if the colors… My monitor is calibrated pretty darn close to my photo lab printer, so I know what I see on my screen is going to print out good.  Colors on computer monitors vary a LOT… just like tv screens at the store… some are brighter, some have more green hue, some more bluish, some are a little more red.  Anyway… I have no idea how to shop for a monitor. I don’t know whats good or bad.

5. Adobe Photoshop CS2.  I reaaaaallly want this, so that I can purchase #6

6. The Totally Rad Action Pack.  I have been REALLY wanting these sooo badly.  However…. I need to get CS2 first… phooey.

7. Laptop.  This will be crossed off the list soon.  Ry and I can no longer share 1 computer now that he’s in school.  We have the $$ to buy one, just haven’t gone and done it yet.

8.  More memory cards.  It seems like mine are always downstairs in my card reader or something, and I go to use my camera and there is no CF card in it!  I need more, anyway… just some backups. You never know.

And one last "non-business related" items I’ve been needing/wanting…

1. Point and Shoot Digital Camera.  Yes, seriously.  The girl with a $1300 camera wants a dinky $200 point and shoot.  I just hate lugging my big camera around!!  However, I am so not loving the quality of P&S’s.  I checked them out at Walmart, and ICK.  Can no one come up with a digital point and shoot with less shutter lag and a quicker flash recharge?  Seriously!! Its horrible.  I mean, don’t even try to catch a fleeting moment with one of those thing.  Anyway, I do need one, so I can keep it in my purse (err… bag…) for those outings that don’t require a professional camera.

  1. Oh, I can sooo relate. 🙂

So I already want a new lens for my Rebel… what lenses do you have? I was thinking about getting the $75 50mm f/1.8. The 85mm f/1.8 sounds awesome but it’s so much more $$$… anything you can recommend?

What version of PS do you have now?

I have the Olympus Stylus 600… it’s okay. I really wish I would have got one with a viewfinder – when it’s sunny out, you can’t see a damn thing!

  2. How about a nice mid-size camera like the Canon G7 or S3. Both are great quality, P&S size-ish with some SLR qualities. 🙂 Wal-Mart probably isn’t the best place to buy a camera anyhow.

  3. look at the cannon 630 (or something like that) My mom just got it and loves it. I doesn’t seem to have as much lag as many others!

I have a huge wishlist too– why can’t camera “toys” be cheaper?

  4. Personally, I’m on my 3rd (2 at work/1 at home) ViewSonic LCD monitor and I’ve never had a problem with any of them. I wouldn’t buy anything else.

  5. I have a canon point and shoot. i love it … its a higher end p&s but you get what you pay for. don’t go to walmart. i got mine at staples…they have good quality…anyway, the model of mine is…oh crap…its at home (im at school)…and i don’t remember what the model # is…oops … but i’ll be home friday and i can tell ya then. (wow i feel like a dork!)
but seriously, i love mine. its great. none of that crappy lag time and it has manual! which is awesome coming from something like the 30d, lol.
