Oh my gosh.
What an exhausting day.
Let me start from the beginning. I’ve been planning Porter’s first birthday party for months. I wanted it to be perfect (and it did turn out pretty good).
Well, last night we had game night. And after a long week with Porter being close to unbearable, I was ready for a little…uhm… self medication. So, us girls… Maria, Heather, Katie and I, got ourselves quite QUITE tipsy. We had a great time laughing, joking, being just plain stupid and being carefree, until late in the evening Katie had enough and up and left. The three of us left (and our hubby’s) stuck around, still having fun, until it was just Heather, I and the Ryan’s. Then Heather decided to bust out the camera and, let me just say… hilarious.
Ry and I got home a little after midnight, and I really don’t remember too much. I woke up around 4 to the sound of hail/sleet on the windows (killer to a hungover headache..) took some Tylenol and went back to bed. I woke up around 9 feeling fine, just tired still. So, all day I really have not recovered from last night.
(let me put in another funny… Heather was drunk-blogging last night!! She cracks me up. We are no longer in the age of Drunk-Dialing… its drunk blogging now, guys! I’m sure Heather will cover that topic more extensively at a later date).
So, back to the story. Today I spent the day making super duper cute cupcakes…
and covering all my bases with party plans. I finished up a few layouts for P’s scrapbook (which was at the party for guests to check out) and rounded up the carload of crap I needed to take to the clubhouse.
His party went well. We had pizza, breadsticks and pop, and cupcakes. It was so great to see everyone who is significant in Porter’s life all there to celebrate with him. We had quite the crowd of kiddos, and it was so neat to see all the one-year-olds all together. Porter regularly sees Brenna, Aubri and Sawyer, but it was fun to see them all in the same place, kwim?
As much as I loved throwing this party, I do NOT want to do this again anytime soon LOL. Here are some highlights…
Thank you everyone who helped with the party… Heather for coming early to help me set up, Maria, Andrew, Mom and Dad B, Mom, Grandma, Heather and Shawn for helping clean up. Uhmmm anyone else I’m forgetting? I appreciate all your help!

Looks like a huge success, Nicole! Love seeing how all of your hard work and planning paid off! A little sad that I couldn’t give the b-day boy a kiss (can you belive it’s almost been a YEAR since I’ve seen him?)…but it all looks amazing!!!
Those cupcakes are so freaking cute, awesome job! P man looks adorable. I hear ya about the party though, so exhausting huh! Thankfully you have a year to recover in between!
