Stocking Stuffer Help

SOS!  SOS!  I have a challenge for you all.

I was chatting with Barbie today, and the subject of holidays and presents and all that came up, and she was saying she wished she’d never started the stocking tradition with her kids (boys ages 15 and 13 and girl aged 12) because the boys are SO hard to buy for now… there are very few stocking stuffer items under $5… or even $10 or $20 for that matter.  She challenged me to think of 10 stocking stuffer items for a boy aged 13-16… under $5.  She said "You post on your blog thingy and see what your readers come up with"

So there’s your challenge… how many $5 and under items can you come up with for a boy (or boys) aged 13-16.

What we came up with so far:

  • candy
  • cologne
  • tennis balls/golf balls (but that only works if they play that sport)
  • guitar pick (ditto of above)
  • $5 McDonalds certificate book
  • Coupon book to redeem for things like "Your choice of dinner" "Mom or dad will run you one place of your choice" (which her son Cannen used when he forgot his school ID lanyard and she had told him tough luck, but he had the coupon, so she HAD to redeem it.. smart kid!) "Get out of doing a chore one week" Those types of things.
  • Cool mechanical pencils or pens for school
  • a magazine (not a subscription, just single magazine of their preferred topic)
  • Ry chimed in with vaseline and a Playboy magazine (oh my word)

Ok, so now that I’ve depleted a majority of the items…. how many more can you come up with?

  1. My mom always got me hygiene-related things in my stocking… practical stuff. Of course it was always makeup and stuff for me, but there’s always deodorant, shaving cream/disposable razors (if they’ve started yet!), hair gel, and whatnot. Not very FUN gifts, but usually under $5 nonetheless!

  2. My mom always got us underwear in our stockings… kinda funny maybe, but my sister and I always liked it. So maybe a pair of cute boxers? If that’s not weird, haha. 😉

  3. I’m not that great at stocking stuffers. But here’s my best guess at what my nephew (age 14) would like:

    * DVD from the 2/$5 bin at Wal-Mart
    * Comic Book
    * Magic or baseball cards pack
    * Magazine with cheat codes for XBox or PS2

I called my nephew and he wasn’t much help. He said everything he’d want is more than $5. LOL!

  4. I always throw in the socks, undies, school supplies, trading cards of any type (like baseball or Yu-Gi-Oh), candy, hair gel, toothbrush, toothpaste, a new watch, sunglasses, a baseball hat………ok that is enough from me! :O)
