Quick before its tomorrow!

As usual, its late and I’m still up.  I’m heading to bed, but I wanted to post before todays events are old news.

Heather, Savannah and Sawyer came over and hung out today.  I swear, Porter has some issues with Sawyer and it just totally baffles me.  He’s been around Sawyer for a large part of his life… since he was about 4 or 5 months old.  Heather started watching him when he was 6 months old, so going to their house two days a week is nothing new.  Once he turned one, he started having these personality issues…. crying when Sawyer was around him, he bursts into tears when Sawyer screams, cringes when Sawyer comes near him (which, I’m sure partly is because for awhile Sawyer was pretty rough with him when he was just starting to walk… Sawyer was getting into the "toddler" stage of "MINE" and toys were a free for all)… but now… now…. Porter is plenty steady to fend for himself, and honestly, the kid pretty much bullies Sawyer back. Today Sawyer was walking into the house past Porter, and Porter turned around and whacked him on the back, and not nicely I’ll tell ya.  What is up with my kid???  Heather says that Porter is totally different once Sawyer goes down for a nap… that when its just him and Savannah, he’s his normal, happy go lucky self acting all goofy.  And even when Savannah snatches stuff from him or is loud near him etc (things that if Sawyer were to do it would send him into a fit of crying), he doesn’t even flinch.  Ugh.  So frustrating.

How did I get on that tangent?  Well, Porter started off his day whiny, and of course once Sawyer arrived his outlook on life didn’t change for the better.  Punk.  So, we had a quick lunch and then the boys went down for a nap.  A nice long nap.  They both slept for close to 4 hours!!!  When they woke, Sawyer was plenty refreshed, but Porter was either cranky from too much sleep or cranky because he still had houseguests.  My mom thinks he acted so grumpy all afternoon because he had to share his stuff… which, of course he needs to learn to share, but its just so strange that he acts like this with the Morrison kids… he’s practically grown up with them, they’re practically his part-time siblings!!

Anyway, if anyone else has ever encountered this issue, I’d love to hear your input.  Heather and I are stumped, and I’m pretty close to just saying my kid is a brat.  And, another thing… he doesn’t do this with really anyone else but Sawyer.  He is totally fine around Aubri or his other cousins (although he doesn’t see them as often), and even with other kids in our playgroup, I’ve never really seen this behavior from him with them.  Weird, huh?  I hope this is just a stage and he’ll grow out of it.  But, then again, by the time he grows out of it, the Morrisons will have moved!

I also have to share this… his new Super-Dork pj’s.  We had to exchange an outfit to Walmart that Nana and Papa bought him for a different size.  They didn’t have the same outfit in his size, and there was another one I liked but, again, only in a 12 mos.  I was going to save the in store credit, but then I thought I’d use it for some summer pj’s for him.  He has lots of long, cozy sleepers, but only two short-pjs.  Let me warn you, Walmart is not the best place for pj’s.  Unless you’re an infant and they have decent once piece sleepers.  But older kids, its pretty raunchy stuff… major cartoons, characters and all that jazz that I just can’t stand.  Well, they DID have some TRUCK pj’s, and Porter was in love.  Now, I refuse refuse refuse to buy him any shirts, shorts, shoes etc… with characters on them… anything that he’s be seen in public in.  Call me anal, but ugh.   Well, seeing that sparkle in his eye, the big grin on his face when he saw the "truck" pj’s, I broke down and let him get a pair of ugly pj’s… its not like he’ll be wearing them out of the house.  I’m warning you… they are hideous.  But, seriously, he loves them.  Ewww. So, Nana and Papa… thats what your outfit went to buy… his dorky pj’s.  Porter says "THANK YOU!!"  LOL.

  1. OMG, I’m the same way with overly-cartoony stuff. Her great-grandma got her these blinky Dora shoes and I just cringed… thank GOD she said she only got them for her to wear in the garden at HER house, lol.

Tiegan has plenty of gifted clothes with cartoons and cheesy stuff all over them that reside in the BOTTOM of the dresser drawers for laundry day… haha!

  2. I *love* that picture of P looking at S like, “okay, I’m watching you… whatever you do, I promise I can cry about it… just look at me, just glance at me… that’s all it takes!”
