Just a few things

1) Lori is back at it again!  I surprised her (or tried to) with a new blog at blogspot and she’s got some new pictures up! So, head on over there and check it out.  Hopefully we can keep her motivated to post post post!

2) In other blogger news, Katie has joined the blogging world too.  So, head on over to The Happy Huff House and say hello to her also. She’s still getting things in order and trying to figure out all this in-ter-net and blog-ing stuff (HAHA!), but hang in there, I’m sure she’ll have some interesting things to blog about.

3) My "Thoughts on Thursday" post won’t be on Thursday, again.  I’m behind with client orders so my big "thinking" posts aren’t going to happen this week.  I need TIME to really think it out. The post is started, but not finished.  So, maybe next week.

Wait, I lied.  Here’s a thought for you…

The other day after I picked Sam up from the groomer, I was on the highway home. Sam was laying quietly in the back of the Fe, and I passed this car on the highway.  Now, would you believe what I saw sticking out of the driver’s window?  One of those little yappy dogs.  You know, the ones that think they are 10 feet tall and bark and make all sorts of noise?  (can you tell I’ve had a few bad experiences with tiny dogs?) So, what the HELL is this person doing DRIVING with this little RAT running over their lap and wagging their head out the window?  How incredibly unsafe is that.  Damn, why don’t I just let Porter bounce around the drivers seat with me as I drive down the highway.  Seriously, people that do this (and I see it often) should be pulled over and ticketed.  They say talking on the phone while driving is unsafe… what about these people with dogs on their laps!

So, ok, not really a "thought" for you to ponder, but well, what do you think?  Do you drive with your dog on your lap?  Would you?  Hell, I should have pulled over and brought 80lb Samson up front with me to show off his new ‘do!  HAHA!

  1. Oooh! I’ll bet Samson would have loved that! Ha! I agree w/you though. Keep the dogs out of your face & off your lap when drivng. How unfair is it to the dogs if you have to slam on the brakes & they fly into the dash/windshield? Or my question to the person(s) w/ the window rolled 1/2 way down & the dog is so tiny-what if the dang thing falls out of the window when you are driving? eewww!

  2. I agree, it’s nuts how people drive around with dogs (or any kind of pet) on their laps!

I had to drive Lucy home from the Humane Society without a crate, and she was pretty little. I didn’t even think to click her leash into the seatbelt in the back seat! She jumped up on my lap in the front seat and I very nervously drove the rest of the way home, LOL.

  3. Oh my gosh! Okay, so we have a tiny dog and my husband DOES that! He lets her sit on his lap and I yell at him about it all the time! He doesn’t take her far – maybe over to his parents house which is very close by – but STILL. The only time the dog is allowed (by me) to be in the car without any kind of restraint is when he’s driving and I’m holding her (which is still only for very short trips because that is NOT safe either). The rest of the time she’s buckled into the seatbelt with her harness. Especially with a baby in the car.

I think people spoil little dogs a lot more – I know my husband does. I have been saying from the beginning that he lets her do things he would never let a lab do (he grew up with labs). Little dogs need the same discipline that big dogs do – no jumping, for example… but lots of times their owners don’t worry about it because when they jump on someone, they only come up to that person’s knees. But they still shouldn’t be doing that! Our dog is tiny, but she’s nice. 🙂

  4. Hey Nicole….Did you see Don driving with Rocco??..LOL! Little dogs need love too, just maybe not drving down the highway at 70 mph.

  5. I couldn’t agree more. The other day I was driving home on the freeway and next to me was a big Dodge truck that had one of those tool boxes in the back, right up next to the cab and a great big German Shepard was standing on top of it, pacing back and forth while the driver is going 80 MPH!!! If the guy had even so much as tapped his breaks the dog would have been dead. I was so mad that I called my SIL who is a sherriff’s deputy and unforunately they can’t do anything unless they see it themselves. So, so sad.

  6. I have cats…but even THEY aren’t going to be crawling all over me and the car while I drive. Dogs running around in the car is very unsafe and even more annoying!!
