Niiiiice….

This afternoon while I was taking a nap, Ryan heard Porter in his room crying (he had been taking a nap).  He walked in and guess who was standing there staring at him… from the FLOOR….

Yes, you heard me. I think we have an escape artist on our hands.  A big boy bed might be in the works a little sooner than possible.  Originally we were just going to wait until we had another baby and keep P in the crib until we set up the nursery, but I think Santa might be bringing a big boy bed and a new bedroom set for Christmas.

Also…

Tonight (just a few minutes ago, actually), Ryan was getting ready to put P in bed.  He told him he could stay up a few more minutes and watch Magglio bat.  I think Magglio struck out or something because Ryan says "DAMN!" with all sorts of anger and enthusiasm.

Well, remember how I said P was repeating EVERYTHING?  Well, it has happened.

Porter stares at the tv, like a little shadow and says "DAME!! DAME!!"

What does my husband do?  Well, like any good, responsible parent… he starts CRACKING UP and rolling on the floor.  I’m like "DON’T LAUGH!! DON’T LAUGH!"

Porter… little copycat, looks at Ryan and starts fake laughing at him.

Oh boy.  That’s why I’m now in my office.  Safe in the basement.

  1. OK I’m coming out of lurker-hood for this one! I feel for you about the crib thing. I say, buy a crib tent! I cannot believe how my life changed when my little dude climbed out of his crib. It was awful.

But I don’t want to preach doomsday- it could be just fine! What do I know? 🙂

  2. don’t worry we do the same thing when Lukas says something funny! In fact my brother pointed out that when Lukas says Big Bird..it sounds like Big Bit…then it sounds like big bitch. And now we laugh whenever he says it..so he waits for a reaction when he says it now..waiting for our laughter!

  3. OMG! That is too funny! Not that I am laughing @ you, just with you! We have the same issues with Isaac-repeats EVERYTHING & he is 4. It just gets better!
Speaking of getting better-hope you do 🙂

  4. Tiegan now has her own toddler bed and LOVES it. it scares me to death because I know she’s a climber so there is no furniture other than her bed right now. haha. I think she just likes it because she can get in & out as she pleases and doesn’t feel “trapped”.

Don’t feel bad about “damn”… Tiegan learned “crap” from ME!! It was totally inadvertent, too. I was telling my dad something about my trunk “I don’t know, it’ll probably fit in there on top of all my other crap.” I thought she was quietly playing by herself in the yard, when all of a sudden I hear from behind me “CWAP! CWAP!” so of course, immediate reaction, I started to say “oh, shi-….”

We have gotten to the point where we have to spell things out. “So&So got a new P-U-P-P-Y” or “let’s take her to get some I-C-E-C-R-E-A-M later” hahaha!
(holy long comment… sorry about that. lol)

  5. TJ hasn’t even started trying to get out of his crib! Which I am very happy about! His crib converts into a toddler bed, but the way he rolls around in bed at night, if we converted it into a toddler bed, he would be falling off into the floor ALL of the time! Oh and I know what you mean about having a copycat on your hands! Just wait until he starts copying you when you are trying to discipline him!LOL

  6. Ohhh. I had a climber. Have fun with that. I would wake up and he would be into all kinds of stuff. Yeah, they know what words to repeat…be glad its only damn. Peyton’s fav was the f bomb…courtesy of Mark.
