Just call me the “Climber Clepto”

Oh wow.  What a day.

This morning began a day filled with yard-toy-collecting.  Yes, you hear me right.  Woah.

Porter and I headed off to some garage sales with Heather as Ryan headed off to Dexter to pick up two Little Tikes/Step 2 climbers.

The first sale we went to had a Little Tikes climber… for $20!  I could not pass that up… they were selling on Craigslist for $50-$75, so I figured, hey, I’ll resell it if we don’t want it.

Ryan called me on his way home and said he made out like a bandit… the lady had a barn full of toys and she told him to take whatever.  So he brought back a Step 2 Wagon Trailer (not that we have the wagon HAHA!), a little bubble blowing lawn mower, a basket full of TRUCKS!, a race car set (which is way too old for Porter right now) and a kids grill (I should add that it has NONE of the little extras HAHAHA!!).  Woah.

In that basket of trucks was this small, metal, yellow dump truck.  And Porter LOVES it.  He got SO upset when I took it from him to wash it, and when he went down for his nap, he BAWLED for it as if I had taken his best friend in the world away from him.  (and the sucker I am, I gave it to him to let him sleep with it.  Then Ryan conned him and snuck it away b/c he was scared to let him sleep with a metal truck).

It IS a cute little dump truck, isn’t it?

Now at the last sale that Heather and I went to, I found a toddler swing for $3 (the dolphin swing still works, but with tennis shoes on its kind of hard to get P out of it without his shoes getting stuck) and then this ugly truck that Porter was thrilled with (again, $3!)

I spent the afternoon scrubbing all these toys, as the outdoor ones had mildewy mold on them (ick).  Lori was planning on giving us one of her playthings (her yard looked like a daycare before, now mine has taken the daycare spot from her HAHA!), but her plaything is the same as the pink slide one I bought today, so obviously we don’t need it.  Could you imagine FOUR playthings out in our yard?  Crazy!

So, I’m sure you’re dying to see what our yard is looking like….

Porter went from ZERO climbers to…

Oh man, overindulged or WHAT?

At first Porter didn’t care much for the climbers, but just before bedtime-when he has his big burst of "lets wrestle around" energy- I took him outside and he played and played and played.

Of course he played with his truck…

He had a blast on the slide… he was doing it all by himself!

He even tried to climb up the ladder like I showed him.  Hopefully he’ll catch onto that part soon… but it is pretty tricky for a little guy.

Oh boy… the climbing up the slide is already starting…

You can tell he played hard… his feet were all dirty by the time we went in!

  1. OMG, M would be in HEAVEN. Why the heck do you live so far away??? Those climbers here are going used for a minimum of $75 and they go in 5 seconds flat! Love the pic where P looks like he’s a gymnast (is that how you spell it??) sticking the landing! LOL

  2. Umm, I’m jealous!! so, what’s the garage sale secret?? Everytime I go all I manage to find is the rinky dink stuff. I bow to you garage saleing goddess…:) P looks like he’s having fun.

  3. WOW!! You only have ONE little one to play with all of that right now?? You’re just begging to be the neighborhood Mom whose house everyone else’s kids end up at, aren’t you?? LOL!!
