i want to remember

  • I want to remember how Eloise will have totally unintelligible conversations with you, as confident as she’s speaking complete English sentences.   She’ll even pause to say “Uhm…”
  • I want to remember how Porter wakes up for school and gets himself ready, and often makes everyone scrambled eggs for breakfast.

  • I want to remember how tenderhearted Amelia is.   Special things are so important to her.  She will randomly ask me “Mom, when I die will you put Jagwee and Mine-mee in the box with me?”   She adores her new American Girl doll and when I asked her tonight if she loved her doll she smiled, hugged it and said “Mom, when I die will you put Willa and Jagwee and Minemee in the box with me?”  It breaks my heart.  She talks about dying a lot… she will get teary when she thinks of me dying and tell me “I don’t want you to get old and die… I will miss you!”We watched Meet the Robinsons the other night and when the mom dropped the baby off at the orphanage steps in the night Amelia gasped and said, completely choked up “That’s so sad!  She’s going to miss her baby!  And the baby is going to (insert tears and hiding her face in my shoulder) miss his mommy!”

  • I want to remember how Hudson is such an innocent, caring 8 year old.   He loves his stuffed animals.  He loves caring for them.  He loves playing dolls with Amelia, and will push a doll around in the stroller, caring for it like he’s the dad.
  • I want to remember how Eloise loves dancing.  She’ll hear a catchy song and raise her arms up and just start jumping around.

  • I want to remember how Porter is so into Percy Jackson books and was so excited when I asked to read The Lightning Thief.   When I finished the book, he brought me the 2nd book in the series from his classroom library so I could read it.
  • I want to remember how Hudson has this impeccable knack for recognizing actors voices.  He’s randomly realized “So and so is the voice of that character!” even long after he ever heard the person talking.
