1. You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
This is my second time reading (Er… listening) to this book. It’s funny… I bought this book for my little tribe of friends about 3 years ago and it took me 3 years to actually read it myself. 😂 it wasn’t until Andi kept bugging me to read it and I decided I wanted to do some self care in the form of using the treadmill 3 times a week that I finally downloaded the audible and Jesus H I was hooked. Seriously. Get this book. Download the audible. It’s. So. Good.
I’ve been struggling a lot the last couple months with a lot of self doubt, feeling a lack of direction, a lack of purpose and I’ve had some weeks of feeling depressed and hollow, and I’ve really struggled with anxiety and random panic attacks this winter. I decided I really missed blogging- not just the act of blogging but the way I used to blog. I miss being candid and transparent and I am struggling really bad with opening up, feeling confident in my thoughts and words and embracing a “don’t give a fuck” attitude about what anything things. I want to expand so much on that and hopefully I will at some point on this blog. But not today. Anyhow. This book just really hits me in the gut and makes me want to put on a damn cape and tiara and take on the world. So. I’m listening to it again, gleaning any bit of inspiration I can, and I think everyone should listen to it!
2. Blue Light Glasses
I was reading about the effects of blue light on your eyes and, since I do a lot of my work (and other free-time things) on the computer (primarily in the evening hours), I decided I’d try out some blue light glasses. I’m not positive if they’re doing any good but I think they’re pretty cute and kind of want to wear them all the time but would that be weird?
I mentioned earlier I’ve been struggling with anxiety (I have for a long time, but finally “realized” it about 2 years ago). It seems to go in waves of severity, and the past few months have been rougher than normal. Valor has been my go-to for calming down and refocusing my overactive brain. I don’t go a day without this oil. Ever. Lately I’ve been using it as part of the Great Day Protocol, but I love it on its own as well!
I’m not sure how I found this band but I. Freaking. Love them. Some of my favorite songs are All I Want, High Hopes, The One, and Head Held High.
Speaking of music. This makes me curious. I tend to create new “annual” playlists named super creative things like…. 2017. Or 2018. And I add all the songs I’m into at the moment to that iTunes playlist and listen to it whenever I’m in the car. Is that just me? Currently my 2018 playlist (haven’t started a 2019 yet) has these songs on it:
- The Breakup Song Francesca Battisteli
- Happier Marshmello + Bastille
- Say You Won’t Let Go James Arthur
- Wild Love James Bay
- Sunflower Post Malone
- Good News Ocean Park Stand-off
- Shallow Lady Gaga
- Polaroid Imagine Dragons
- What’s on your current favs playlist??
